About Us

Born of the desire to provide women with no nonsense hats and headpieces Rachel Black Millinery was established in early 2011.  Tired of seeing ‘hats wear women’ Rachel wanted to create a range that women could feel comfortable wearing whilst still looking elegant and stylish whilst knowing that the pieces they have are unique.

By way of inspiration Rachel draws on her training in theatrical costume construction to design and make statement pieces with the intention of releasing the wearer’s ‘inner drama queen’ and appealing to their sense of fun.  She loves to experiment with colour and her best pieces have been born out of the concept of movement and impact.

Working from her North London studio Rachel twice yearly seasonal collections which include a ready to wear range whilst offering her clients a bespoke service should they wish for something a little more different.  All pieces are handmade using quality materials by Rachel herself combining both traditional and contemporary millinery techniques.

Her work has been stocked at various boutiques around the UK as well as major department stores such as Bloomingdales, Dubia and regularly features in the press such as Harper's Bazaar, You and Your Wedding and The Telegraph.  Pieces have been worn by celebrities and Royalty such as Helen Mirren, Cheryl Cole and The Princesses of York
